ANATOMY OF A NAME

AYLAZ

AYLA + Z

“Ayla” has two key meanings:

Turkish:  “halo of light” or “moonlight” — a glow that surrounds and illuminates.

Hebrew: “oak tree” — a symbol of strength, stability, and rooted growth.

At Aylaz we strive to be a guiding light for coaching strategy helping coaches build a strong foundation for their team.

Why the “Z”? Because we thought it made the name sound better.

41OM16

41 + O + M + 16

Every play name is split into 4 key components:

Component 1: A play name will start with anywhere between 1-3 numbers which represent the play set. In this example, 41 means that it’s a 4-Out, 1-In set.

Component 2: The first letter in the name will only ever be O or D representing whether the play is offense or defense.

Component 3: The second letter in the name will always be what scheme the play should be used against. In this example, M means that this play should be used against a man defense.

Component 4: The final number or set of numbers is simply the play’s ID so that we can keep everything organized.

Combining it all, this play name tells us that the play is a 4-Out, 1-In offensive play to be used against a man defense.
